  3. How was the event? Unfortunately I couldn't make it.
  4. Moving to Corvallis next month to attend OSU. I'm looking for new climbing partners. Hit me up if interested.
  5. I'm surprised it took this long. I'm guessing backcountry.com will follow in the near future. REI will probably have more returns than ever this near and take a hit on gross sales. Part of me sees where they are coming from...people may buy an ultralight item, tear the fabric during normal use, and claim it's defective. That's bullshit. But say you purchase an expensive pair of climbing shoes, use them 5 times leaving them in great condition, store them in a clean closet etc. and the soles delam. 54 weeks after purchase. That may be another deal. I have had this happen with sandals before and I will never buy from this sandal company again. I'm my limited experience, adhesive failure seems to be a legitimate reason for limited use returns after >1y. Others may disagree.
  6. Does anyone have any knowledge about current ice conditions in the Lake Tahoe Area?
  7. +1 for MountainGear.com. I just got off the phone with their CS dept. I spoke to someone who actually climbs and they were more than happy to exchange the rope for me. I will be buying from them again.
  8. To answer my own question...I found this on the bottom of the rope inspection log... Attention : These are average lifetimes in use, a rope could be destroyed during its first use. Proper storage between uses is essential. The lifetime of the rope in use must never exceed 10 years. The total maximum lifetime (storage before use + lifetime in use) is thus limited to 13 years.
  9. I just received a rope I had purchased from a PNW retailer. The BW 9.4 DD 70m rope was manufactured in Dec. 2007. I have never seen a rope on the shelf in any shop that is 5 years old. I have never purchased a rope that was more than 2 years old. I am a little preturbed and I am considering sending it back. I know Sterling Ropes give a 10 year shelf life for their products. Any thoughts?
  10. Anyone know if any ice lines are in condition in the Yosemite area? I heading down there for a job interview this next week. Thanks!
  11. Oh they also retail for 69.95 per the video
  12. So I recently watched a video on the Black Diamond X4 Cam coming out this next spring. At 1:47, I noted the 3 largest sizes used cord instead of a metal wire. I went back to the original BD video and found a few brief shots of this. Previously, I had not noted this issue. So BD is taking something from Metolius huh? Interesting... {video:vimeo] So maybe I should consider buying some small Mastercams now...
  13. Which brass offset sizes do you normally carry selkirk?
  14. What's is the greatest fall you have taken on a brass offset without it failing? What size and what kind of rock?
  15. I can see why that is all you use. I should articulated my intent better: I was referring to the alloy series sizes rather than the super micro brass offset types (say 2-5 kN rating) used more frequently for aid (although I'm sure some use these pieces for free applications).
