  1. Thanks for all the interest and input !!! I'll update the progress. Everyone who PM'd I'll keep in touch... minor glitch.. I burned out my sewing machine... but am getting new pfaff very soon !! just wanted to pitch a few sites for anyone else interested in making their own gear http://thru-hiker.com/materials/index.php http://www.backpacking.net/makegear.html http://www.owfinc.com/
  2. Hi, I am making down mittens with a G-tex over shell.... these are rough prototypes and hope to make at least 50 more to hone my design. I thought I'd put these out there for suggestions and to gauge interest in.... 1. would you like to see the progression of proto's 2. would you be interested in checking them out (as later proto's would sell for $30-60 a pair. 3. would you be interested in testing, reviewing (possibly endorsing) at no cost / you keep em. keep in mind these are rough photos and depending on interest and input ... I'll post some pic's 30 or so mitt's down the line ... much appreciated !
  3. Note: the Long fits up to 6'6" and has a girth wider than the regular... hence, its a big bag... on one hand, a western bag might feel like spandex in comparison, on the other, plenty of room to wear those extra layers or stow the bottles and socks in the toe box. ... Unless you are 6'1" you will not fill this bag... and might induce cold spots. not quite the greatest sales pitch but just being honest...
  4. hey thanks... I've ascertained that Holubar also offered a "kit" ... but I remember the label... and that they later became TNF ... probably a buy out.
  5. Still Available. note: long fit's up to 6'6" ...
  6. Just wondering if a few of these gems are still out there... I may be sentimental, but around '98 i bought a used Holubar w/ a snap in silk liner and snap on shell ... from a guy who used it on Annapurna (probably in the 80's)..... it was the best bag I've ever had.... (toasty january 14ers in CO) alas .... stolen in a car break-in in PDX a few years later... pre-global warming goose feathers ?
  7. Brand new (w/ tags) -20 down bag. long right zip. retail 639 ... asking $450.
