  1. Winter is approaching...and that means the boys from Powderwhore are back with their latest production, Choose Your Adventure. We hope to see you this Sunday, 10/7 at the North Bend Theater or next Tues or Wed, 10/9 or 10/10 at the Mountaineers. Beer and raffles to support Friends of the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center. Come see us and all your backcountry friends and let's get this winter going!
  2. We are excited to be bringing John Baldwin to the Mountaineers in Seattle on Wed, April 4 at 7:30. John is the author of "Exploring the Coast Mountains on Skis" and will share some of his favorite backcountry ski trips ranging from deep powder runs to spring traverses across high, remote icefields. $10 ticket benefits the Friends of NWAC....available here .   3. The Friends of the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center is conducting a survey to help FOAC and NWAC improve our respective services. We’re trying to find out how we're doing, what we can do better and who our users are. Your participation will help us improve our avalanche forecasting and education.   4. Vertfest 2012 is less than 3 weeks away! We hope you will join us on Sat and Sunday, February 18 and 19 at Alpental for the Monika Johnson Memorial Rally, the Stanley Cup (new this year), live music with Head Like a Kite, gear demos galore and an expanded schedule of clinics with the best guides and athletes in the business.   5. Join the Friends of NWAC for the Seattle premier of Freerider , Crest Pictures' profile of splitboarder Kyle Miller, at the Mountaineers on Friday, Feb 3. It will be showing in tandem with Wyoming Triumph. Should be a fun night and a great way to support one of our own.
  6. The Friends of the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center is excited to be hiring a part time avalanche education coordinator. If you are interested or know someone who is, please check out the Education Coordinator Job Announcement and/or help us spread the word.
  7. The Friends of the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center is ramping up for the inaugural Snowball Dinner and Auction, an end-of-season celebration to support NWAC. We hope you will join us on Fri, April 10 for some good food, great auction items, shared stories and maybe a prayer for more snow in 2010! NWAC is facing a potential budget shortfall of over $100,000 next year. Please come out and show your support for a service we all rely on to plan trips and stay safe in the mountains.
