  1. Found white Elios helmet near Illumination Rock on the South side of Mt Hood. No head was attached. jennecarter@gmail.com if it's your's.
  2. Premier mixed climbing tool with a hydroformed aluminum shaft. A pair will retail new for $560. I would like to sell for $400 or best offer. Only a few seasons old, in great condition with well maintained picks. Will sell with the original fusion dry picks. But I also have a pair of laser ice picks for $60 additionally (retail new at $108 for the pair of picks). If you buy the extra picks, I'll throw in a set of adjustment tools so you can switch the picks between ice and dry. Pick up in Redmond, WA or you pay shipment. Please PM me at jennecarter@gmail.com.
  3. My climbing partner found a man's wedding ring off the climber's walk off trail on the backside of Snow Creek Wall. Help me find the owner!! It has an inscription on the inside from a wife who is probably pissed he lost it. Please contact me at jennecarter@gmail.com if you think it's your's (or your husband's). Thanks!
  4. Trip: Chair Peak - NE Buttress/ Northeast Buttress Date: 12/28/2013 Trip Report: Great day on Chair Peak. We started out at Alpental a little before 7am. Reached the summit probably around 3:30, beautiful sunset from up there! Got to the the 2nd rap station at around dark and back at the cars around 8pm. We did the route in 4 long pitches on 60 m ropes. Simu-climbing at the end/ start of the 1st, 2nd, and 4th pitches. In hindsight, we felt the "crux" was the 1st pitch with unconsolidated snow over rock on the traverse section. Protected that with a piton (also a fixed pin on that pitch before traverse). The 3rd/ "waterfall" pitch wasn't bad at all in it's current formation. Picked out and not overhanging with a great belay anchor of fixed pins. Overall, the protection was really good. Thanks Damien, Tristan and Allie for the fabulous teamwork. I learned a ton (as I do on every climb) and had fun. One of my partners dropped his camera over the waterfall. If you happen to find it, please email me at jennecarter@gmail.com. Thanks! Gear Notes: Rack: We needed/ used: 4 pitons, 3 pickets (the pickets placed well in the snow possibly could have used 1 more), 2 short screws (ice not great for screws but we found a couple of spots), and 3 small cams. Found 4 fixed pins, a slung boulder and plenty of trees/ scrub trees to use. No floatation needed. 60 half ropes / double rope rappel Approach Notes: Crampons from the parking lot. We hiked the summer trail/ snow lake trail but heard from others that the winter trail is also fine.
  5. I lost a #1, #2 and #4 cam on South Early Winter Spire- Direct East Buttress Route- on the second to last pitch or on the summit. My partner cleaned them from the anchor, but then it never got back in my pack, somehow. If you find it up there and are nice enough to return it to me, please email me at jennecarter@gmail.com. Thanks! Jenn
  6. Update from Fish and Game: Tieton climbing area is open (Except for "The Bend" climbing area, which has a golden eagle nest and it should be clearly marked).
  7. Anyone know the current Tieton River access? Usually the area is closed Feb 1 through April or July for falcon nesting. Last year, the falcons were downstream so we could still climb. No new info on the WCC page: http://www.washingtonclimbers.org/Climbing/tieton.htm. I'm wondering if the birds are downstream again? Or are the areas closed as usual? Anybody been over there?
