  1. wow..i was not planning on posting, but after reading this note from emily's father, i had to. i'm a friend of emily's from missoula, montana, and i wanted to share a couple memories, mostly for her dad, if he reads this again. we lived in the same house, but weren't roommates. she left just before i moved in, in early 2005. she was very good friends with those that i lived with, dated one of my best friends, and her presence was frequent. every once and a while, she'd show up on a bike, all her possessions fit into a backpack. she'd come in and drop off vegetables from the farm, pick up old mail that had been accumulating for months, talk about the latest adventures, and sometimes play guitar with me if we were lucky enough to cross paths on that day. she had a great voice and we'd jam everything from woody guthrie to bob dylan to martin sexton. she could harmonize beautifully. she had an earnestness that is rare in humanity. not a trace of negativity anywhere in her being. she lived simply and happily. such genuinely good people are hard to come by. her impact on those around her was incredible, and i only regret that i barely touched the surface. i wish we could have talked more, and played more music, and gone on more hikes. those who knew her better, her family and closer friends, must be suffering right now beyond what i am, but it pains me to think that such a beautiful soul couldn't stay here longer, she would have done great things. i haven't seen emily for over six months, and this news hit me quite hard. i don't know any other members of her family, but i hope they know they have my thoughts and love right now. peace emily. ~chris
