I really was'nt expecting this much feedback! I'm glad there are people who will share their experience and opinion on the information I needed. thanks everyone,especially those who attached pics. they were so cool. I'm thinking July or Sept for this trip,and maybe after I learn some basic skills, I can hook up with some of you nice people for a great time in the mountains. thanks again

I really appreciate all the input. it helps a lot. I just hope i can one day go on climbs and not have to depend on a guide service.I'll just throw this out there,too: If anyone would be willing to take and show a newbie some crevasse rescue/self-arrest skills, give me a shout and maybe we can work something out.thanks for everyones help

i'm planning a trip to Baker, but i'm not sure when the best time to go is.my plan is a guided climb with Mountain Madness and date choices are June thru September.I really want the whole alpine effect, so what do ya'll think the best choice would be? thanks in advance for helping a newbie

i just bought a gregory palisade and it seems to me i have way too much extra strap hanging off my pack(compression straps)my question,is, is this going to be a problem or should i trim the excess? i am new to climbing and don't have all my gear yet,so i am not sure how it will all pan out loaded down. i appreciate any advice
