  1. Description: Sales Manager

     

    Edgeworks Climbing: A full service climbing and fitness center in Tacoma, Washington is seeking a self-starting, dynamic and motivated Sales Manager. Edgeworks Climbing offers one of the Northwest’s finest indoor climbing facilities with Individual and Corporate Memberships and Programs, Climbing School and Guiding Programs, Fitness Classes (including Yoga, Pilates and Strength), Groups and Events, and strong year round Youth Programs.     General Summary: Responsible for corporate/institution related sales, working both independently and as part of a team. Responsible for actively seeking new prospects and leads and maintaining current accounts; from beginning to end is responsible for all sales and account management of new and existing corporate/institution accounts.

     

    Core Functions:

    • Develops and manages leads and customers to establish lasting relationships and sales.

    • Promotes/sells/secures orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.

    • Actively seeks new leads and opportunities to further sales into existing and new markets.

     

    Principal Activities:

    • Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current customers and prospective customers within corporate/institution related products and services to generate new business.

    • Makes telephone calls and in-person visits to existing and prospective customers.

    • Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers.

    • Coordinates and works effectively with marketing, accounting, and gym operations.

    • Reports weekly leads, meetings and calls, work plans, and monthly/quarterly sales results.

    • Accurately forecasts and budgets annual, quarterly and monthly revenue.

    • Develops and evaluates new and existing sales programs.

    • Develops and maintains product/price lists for corporate products and services.

    • Collaborates with the General Manager to develop specific strategies, plans and campaigns for revenue growth within corporate/institution related products and services.

    • Collaborates with General Manager and Marketing Manager to establish and control sales related expense budgets.

    • Contributes actively to team efforts and goals as needed.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 3 years outside sales experience.

    • Climbing and/or Retail/Recreation industry experience (preferred.)

    • Ability to determine solutions for customers (consultative sales approach).

    • Must be motivated, results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment.

    • Experience in developing sales strategies.

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    • Experienced and proven team contributor.

  2. Edgeworks is hiring! We are looking for a front desk person with lots of charisma, attention to detail and climbing experience. Bonus points if you have experience instructing youth.

  3. The Washington Climbers Coalition recently received the remaining copies of Sky Valley Rock from Darryl Cramer as a donation in order to help raise funds for the Vantage Toilet. The WCC dropped off twenty copies of the book at Edgeworks Climbing, which are now on sale with 100% of the proceeds going to the WCC.

    There are still some posters left of this beautiful, limited edition (numbered) poster that was printed specifically as a fundraiser for the Index Town Wall purchase.

     

    Cost: $25 (all proceeds go to WCC Index Fundraiser)

  6. Edgeworks is in need of volunteers for our climbing competition this Saturday (April 5th). Basically we need Belayers and Judges to help out and make the competition successful.

     

    Edgeworks T-Town Climbing Challenge

    -Belayers: Edgeworks Belay Certification Required

    We now have our website up and running with lot's of info and pictures of the construction. Check it out! www.edgeworks-climbing.com

     

    Construction at Edgeworks Climbing (Tacoma's first indoor rock gym) is progressing steadily. We have almost all the steel framing and steel panels up for the main walls and bouldering and we are now starting on the plywood paneling. Soon after that we'll be begin applying concrete and texturing.

     

    We are still shooting for late summer opening and things look to be pointing towards the first few weeks of September. cool.gif

     

    Also, we are now hiring for the following positions:

    • Membership/Facility Supervisor
    • Membership Coordinator
    • Route Setters
    • Climbing Volunteers
    • Yoga and/or Pilates Instructor

    Indoor Climbing Gym to open in Tacoma, Washington

     

     

    Edgeworks Climbing, Inc. (Edgeworks Climbing Gym), a new company founded by Tod Bloxham, Jeff Marcus, Eric Halgren and local investors, today announced plans to open an indoor climbing gym in late summer of 2004 in Tacoma, Washington, near the Tacoma Narrows district and within close proximity of I-5, Highway 16 and the intersection of 6th Street and Pearl Street.

     

    Edgeworks Climbing Gym will be Tacoma’s first climbing gym and will serve as southern Puget Sounds’ destination for indoor climbing, youth and adult events/competitions, a unique alternative for fitness training and a community destination for group events and parties.

     

    The new 10,000 square foot location will serve climbers, active adults and youth throughout the region with facilities that will include:

     • 9,500 square feet of vertical climbing surface area

     • 2nd floor viewing area with lounge/party facilities

     • Conference room for group meetings, events and presentations

     • Fitness Studio

     • Pro-Shop

     • Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms

     • Plenty of free parking

     • Easy access from Highway 16 and I-5

     

    The highlight of Edgeworks Climbing Gym will be its climbing facilities consisting of:

     • 6,000 square feet of top-rope and lead climbing – including:

       o A 25’ tall freestanding pillar with a bouldering archway

       o Over 40 top-rope and lead climbing stations

       o 35’ lead routes

     • 3,500 square feet of bouldering – including:

       o A separate dedicated bouldering area

       o Two bouldering archways

       o “Top-out” bouldering with a walk off to the 2nd floor lounge

     

    “The Tacoma and South Sound region has been long overdue for a high quality indoor climbing gym and gathering place for the climbing community,” said founder Tod Bloxham. “We plan filling that need with an innovative and exciting indoor climbing gym for climbers of all ages and abilities to challenge and enjoy themselves.
