  1. Some low-life douchebags stole the top row of a ledge stone retaining wall I built in my Ballard front yard this summer. They took the whole top row, which included the choicest cap stones

The value of the rocks isn't too much, less than 2 bills, but I spent a lot of fucking time setting them perfectly. Dry stacking ledge stones is a chore if you want a level, stable wall. Bastards.

I'm hoping they come back for the second row tonight, on account of me and the Takoons will be waiting.

Anyone else had experience with landscape thievery? Apparently, it's fairly common in Ballard.

  2. V7 says:

    "FREE EFFIN SPEACH!!

    BRING HOME THE EFFIN TROOPS!!

GIVE THEM A REAL JOB!!! "

ummm...this is a private forum...as such, jon et. al, has ownership and can dictate what "speech" is allowed on this site (nifty word here: moderator)...

aaaaaaaaaaw the fine smell of fascism.........

Christ, you're a tool bag V7. I was hoping this thread would stir up some (((quality))) spray, but all we're getting is your incoherent ramblings.

  3. WTF is up with the Go Army recruiting banner ad at the top of cc.com? I don't mind climbing ads on account of gear is pretty sweet and the site need funding, but military recruiting? I'm pretty sure that this site isn't the Army's target audience, as the posters are pretty much either effete Seattle liberals and chickenhawk Tacoma conservatives. What's next, Pottery Barn ads? Maybe McDonalds? WTF?

  4. In 1963, I was awakened by my father and taken outside with the rest of my family. Most of the neighborhood was out there on the street looking up at a commonly described UFO. It was cigar shaped, had red and green lights along its side and was hovering about 1000' above Missoula. It moved slowly to the west over the course of about 20 minutes then abruptly turned south and upwards and streaked into space.

This is a memory I do not know what to do with.

At age 4, I had not yet done hallucinagenics. Those came in 65.

Besides, my family and I talked about it last July. We all just shook our heads and moved on to the next subject.

To this day, nothing has jumped out of my chest although my father has severe chest pains.

Wait, you were 4 years old in 1963 and first took hallucinogens two years later in 1965? That's fugging core. :toad:

  5. The simple story being told to oneself here seems to be that anyone that opposing the nationalization of healthcare is doing so out of callous disregard for the less fortunate.

That's the modus operandi of every card-carrying Democrat. If you oppose their position, then you are a "bad person" - fill in loaded derogatory slur here:

    1) oppose illegal immigration, affirmative action programs, hate-crime legislation, etc: you are a racist

    2) oppose gay marriage, gay couples adopting, etc: you are a homophobe

    3) oppose social programs: you are callous and care about yourself only

    4) oppose tax increases: you're a rich capitalist who cares only about yourself

    5) if you oppose abortion, stem-cell research, etc: you are a religious fanatic

It goes on and on. Basically, if you oppose anything on their agenda, then they make attacks on you as a person - the politics of personal destruction. Smacks right out of the Soviet Commie strategy - just one step short of calling all opponents bourgeosie capitalists and enemies of the state.

Man, yer posts are an eternal well of sweet, sweet irony

    :lmao:

Good on you for staying the course

  6. I just don't trust government or the people trying to foist this on us. I'm tired of the rhetoric. Facta non verba. I want to see proof.

Sorry about the non-sequitur, but this statement brings the work "Iraq" to mind.

  7. I don't disagree with this:

When the kids get to middle school, make sure they understand that Jefferson was both a great writer and a slaveowner, that ideals are one thing, but that real freedom is greatly rare. Tell the kids to be thankful, not proud, that they're Americans. Tell them that American patriotism is not mere love of country, but suspicion of the guy in charge, and a durable prejudice in favor of the guy with no juice, the fellow whose only connections are to his faith, his patch and his people. Tell them that American patriotism doesn't chant angrily it sings softly. Tell them that American patriotism isn't loud, but vigilant and humble. Tell them that even if we're ashamed of some of our actions, we can take pride in what we hope for. Our ambitions are worth honoring. Tell the kids that for all our crimes of racism, industrial rapaciousness and mere muscle, despite the regularity with which the little guy takes it in the neck, this land from California to the New York island remains a possibility; we still have a chance. Tell them that though we've fallen short of liberty and justice for all, this is a work in progress, that you're full of hope because their generation has yet to summon its attention and its big heart on behalf of the dream.

Hmm look like a Bob Marley Defender of Zion company soldier

Looks like any Berkeley/Cambridge coed....except for the automatic weapon. :laf:

    I was thinking Ani DiFranco

  9. Some asshat, who I was yelling at last week for almost crushing me and my bike when he ran a redlight on Elliot, asked me "Why don't you get in a car like a normal fucking human being?"

Douchebaggery reigns supreme on seattle streets. Check yo self.

  10. You may recall the hysterics of Crux, MattP, and others from the left here last year when the ABC docudrama "The Path To 9/11" aired. It was viewed by some as an indictment of the Clinton administration's failure to stop Osama BinLaden. At least one of these "freedom-loving" liberals were calling for the imprisonment of ABC execs! Well now it looks like those same evil right-wing media cabal have been suppressing the release of the DVD at the behest of Madame Hillary. Meanwhile, "Farenheit 9/11", "Loose Change", and other garbage circulate freely - as they should - with narry a peep from the loony lefties like Crux & Co. Who really believes in free speech and expression?

It's such a shame that the liberal media has completely ignored and/or covered up this story. Thankfully, the LA Times, a bastion of conservatism rivaled only by Fox, uncovered The Truth.
