  1. It's hard to imagine getting jumped when the campground is at capacity. The only drunk people I encountered were Ed and I! For those curious, we did Diedre, Bottom Line, and Calculus Crack, twice letting parties pass us on the approach in exchange for beta. Amazingly, a helpful guide who pointed out the way on Calculus was taking a couple that seemed a little challenged at the bottom all the way up Calculus and Squamish Buttress. The weather, however, was perfect and the granite immaculate. I do regret not getting Snake before I left. As for grades (another thread I know), Squamish seemed a little soft. The runouts (see Bottom Line) weren't too bad having started climbing at Enchanted Rock, TX. The IPA at Howe Sound Brew was disappointing (terrible)...fell back on LGDs the next day. $8-9 US for a six-pack of lowly lager though!
  2. I have been fairly active on cascadeclimbers attempting to secure a partner for July 10 & 11 at Squamish. I had numerous folks contact me, but I ended up getting a lift from Sea-Tac from Ed_Hobbick. Somehow pulling ourselves away from Vancouver (my first time in Canada), we enjoyed great weather at the Chief campground and Ed was a super partner, following 15 pitches without hesiatation in a day and a half. Ed proved the wiser when he announced that it was time to drink beer and rest crack-addled feet before taking me back to Sea-Tac for a function at Fort Lewis. Though I don't know when I'll see the PNW again (I am looking for employment in the region), I'll likely maintain an interest in cascadeclimbers. There's too much humor and good-natured (albeit brutal) spray happenin' Marvin
  3. Howdy Dru, Glad I attracted the attention of such a reknown sprayer, not to mention the law goddess. My efforts to find a partner have led to my being on this site too often. Now I'm even spending valuable time trying to find out how to capture and upload graemlins. This reply is even a veiled attempt to see if I've added an image to my signature.
  4. I'm with the Dixie Chicks on that one.
  5. That's what I hope to avoid! I currently reside in Texas, may move to Georgia , but there is a chance to end up in Bellingham with a new job. I'm soaking up the guidebook and info gleaned from cascade...com., and prepared to do whatever it takes to get high on the Chief. Would love not to incur the expense of a rental by making it worthwhile for a partner to provide the ride, but beggars can't be choosers. Ed? Anyone?
  6. I'm looking for a partner for a couple of long 5.8-5.10 Squamish routes on July 10-11. I have posted under "Will work for partner" with more details. Marvin
  7. This is what I will be forced to do if I can't find a partner (there's not a smoking "Graemlin"). Come on you hardmen/women of the PNW...HELP!
  8. Arriving at Sea-Tac on Wednesday, July 9, this 40 year-old Texan with over a decade of climbing experience wants to see and do Squamish for the first time. Relatively long and moderate routes are what I'm about...willing to line up for Diedre for example or listen to a "local's" route advice. Must return to Sea-Tac by Saturday afternoon. I am renting a car unless I can pay for a ride, willing to bring as much gear as needed, and sure to get pretty loaded on good beer at least once.
  9. I'm still here and glad I could start a thread for GRs...gymp reports. And yes, July seems like a long way off, but I don't want to squander a Squamish opportunity.
  10. Here's the Texan in me...you folks are making me nervous. Scary clowns, soft porn kitty climbers, potential "Man seeks man" responses. When I said liberal, it means I've drank an imported beer. However, I'd probably load all of y'all in the rental if it would insure some climbing.
  11. I am undoubtedly premature with this post, but I am overly excited about seeing Seattle and Squamish in July. I am experienced but unspectacular, Texan but liberal, forty (by then) but fit, and ready for some long moderates including Grand Wall. I arrive Sea-Tac midday on July 9 and will grab a rental for the ride. I'll bring as much gear as needed, beer money, and a desire to see if Canadian coffee shops are as fun as Amsterdam's. Must return to Seattle by the evening of the 12th (Saturday) for an Educators' Visit to Fort Lewis.
