boonecountry: Nice job.
I'm thinking of a solo attempt myself sometime this weekend, and I'm curious as to your times:
You left WRCG at 4:00 p.m., hit Thumb Rock at 1:30 a.m. (you said p.m.), slept until 3:30 a.m. (you said p.m.), then summited at 11:30 - 8 hours later.
Then you were back at your car at 3:00 p.m. (23 hours), which means 3.5 hours from summit to car.
Are these times pretty accurate or guesstimates?
Thanks.

Nice job
Couple questions:
1. Did you have an ice axe and ice tool w/you or just one ice axe?
2. Did you bring any screws?
3. Did you bring any pickets?
4. Last, when you left Thumb Rock, was there a trail going up and to the climber's left?
Thanks.

I'm trying to get lighter with my clothing system on stuff like Rainier, etc.
Right now I carry a DAS jacket, GTX shell (13 oz.), Puffball jacket, Schoeller jacket, windshirt, in addition to a silkweight top that I wear.
I usually don't carry a sleeping bag.
Should I be leaving any of this shit at home? And I know, it's all relative as to how cold you get, etc., etc., etc.
Thanks.

Thanks, everyone, for the replies.
I went down to PMS and picked up a regular sized bivy sack.
Good points by all.
Thanks again.

I'm buying a new bivy sack.
My options are a regular size, fits up to 6'1"; or the long version, fits up to 6'6", or something like that.
I'm 5'6" tall.
Is there an advantage to buying the long version or should I get the regular size?
TIA.

If this thing sells pretty quickly, you mentioned that someone on the web also sells something like this. Do you know where a person could buy something like this on the web?
TIA
