I'm leading a Multi-sport Adventure trip to New Zealand, March 7th-22nd 2003. We have had 3 participants (all experienced mountaineers) who have asked us to arrange an attempt on Mt. Cook (Australasia’s highest peak) and possibly Mt. Aspiring (time permitting) as an option extra. We are in the planning stages of putting together this additional trip. We are considering inviting another 2 climbers on the Mt. Cook attempt, with the goal of having 2, three person rope teams.
The way we see it, there could be two options:
1. Two additional climbers could join us in Auckland NZ, March 20th – the goal is to send the climbers off to the South Island March 21st and those folks would return to the States March 30th. The 2 additional climbers could stay on in NZ for as long as they liked. Land cost of Cook attempt we estimate to be below US$700 for 8 days. International airfare extra.
2. Two additional climbers sign up for the entire Tour leaving Seattle March 7th returning March 30th – total cost US$3,000 (or a little less) for the 23 day trip, including air fare.
