He is also a high altitude film-maker/cinematographer, earning film credits for NOVA and National Geographic Explorer, as well as for the feature film, "Seven Years in Tibet". He has also been honored by the American Alpine Club for his rescue of Beck Weathers during the 1996 Everest expedition featured in the book Into Thin Air. He is also giving us a sneak peek at his new documentary, Secrets of Shangri-La, which debuts on November 18. Secrets of Shangri-La covers his most recent explorations into Nepal's remote Kingdom of Mustang, where he and his team discovered and documented ancient Buddhist texts and images.
