Where is Tumwater Tower?

Went looking for it today, walked along the river for about 0.75 miles to what looks like it may have once been a river cable crossing, then bush whacked quite a ways up hill probably 750ft vertical. Never found anything that looked anything like the pictures, no towers anywhere.

Must have missed something obvious... anyone have coordinates for it?

Hey christensent

There is a tower, it is midslope so its difficult to see.

If you are on Hwy 2 the tower is between an open range sign and milepost 98.

There used to be a cable crossing right below the tower. It crossed an island. The channel has changed since the cable now the flow is closer to equal, the island has timber on it.

In the morning about 8am the top of the tower catches the sun before the rest of the slope.

I am sure there is plenty of bushwacking to get there.

some of us don't bother looking for the old cable crossing. from the highway, count ridges/drainages downstream from the "Iron Bridge" (at "Picnic Rock" in the guidebook) to the tower visible from the highway. then, from the bridge, walk downstream that number of ridges/drainages, and head uphill. its a LONG way uphill. no trail, lotsa brush - you have to really want this one... the "Highway Route" in the guidebook is not as unpleasant as it sounds, and I found it a far preferable approach to the summit block as opposed to the grungy gully alternative...
