We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Mt. Rainier / Camp Muir May 1st

Recommended Posts

A friend of mine got his permits for Mt. Rainier for the weekend of May 2nd so myself along with 2 friends will be flying in from Colorado to attempt Mt.Rainier next weekend. We will be starting on Fri May 1st and heading up to Camp Muir, then to the summit early Saturday morning.... all of this is weather permitting of course.

We were wondering about the conditions at camp muir and wanted to see if anyone had any info on how busy the public shelter might be that weekend, since this still seems to be early season. I have a Mtn Hardwear 4 season tent but wanted to see if we could drop some weight and try to stay in the shelter.

Best thing to do is inquire with the rangers when you register. They will be able to give you much more accurate information than anybody here.
