CraigA
I'm thinking about making a backpacking/photo trip to the Valley of The Ten Peaks and I was wondering what time of year I'd have the best chance of catching the flowers in bloom? I've never been to that area so any and all info will be greatly appreciated. I'm looking for time (peak flower bloom), trail info, and anything else you might feel is important. Do you have a favorite area to go? Is there any place there that I absolutely should not miss? You get the idea! Thanks in advance, Craig Oh yeh, if you know a good web page for the area, I'll take that too.
fern
I think mid-August is usually flower season, but I would contact Parks Canada in Lake Louise to ask them. Twice I've been in Lake Louise and the Moraine Lake trail has been closed or limited because of bears. Sometimes they close it altogether and other times only allow groups of minimum (6?) size in. Moraine Lake is only about 3miles from the road but there are loop trails and such. these people make nice maps these people are paid to answer your questions
Necronomicon
Yeah, 6 minimum group size for some trails. I was up there in July, and there was a habituated she-grizzly with cubs in the valley under the N. Face of Temple. I guess the rationale is that she'd eat the first four, and two could run for help.
