We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Trip: Mt Hood - North Face-Right Gulley`

Date: 2/16/2015

Trip Report:

My partner and I climbed the right gulley yesterday, going car to car. We met and climbed near a some nice boys from B.C. who offered to buy us a couple of beers for our willingness to put in the boot track for them to follow up and down. They had stayed at the stone shelter the night before.

We were able to cross the 'schrund at the far left although it looked like there were other options.

Conditions were superb. We soloed the first ice step

cruised the conditions in the gulley and then pitched out the second step which was in well-protectable WI3 conditions (this was the Canadians behind us)

Descent down the Cooper Spur was quick and easy

Gear Notes:

2 pickets (used one to belay from the top of the second step)

6 screws (used 4 on the second step)

Canadians to chase us up the route!

Approach Notes:

A lovely and although long approach that was snow free until almost the A-frame cabin.

It was great to have been able to share the route with you guys, and we certainly owe you beer for the fine track you made! I've added some additional photos below of you both on the route. It was a excellent day for sure and couldn't have asked for better conditions!

Great to meet you guys on our local alpine playground this past weekend. It was a great day to be out. Just for clarity, I'm Derek and my climbing partner is Jonathan, also who is the author of this post. Oh yeah, congrats on Coflax! It is high on my list.

Hey Derek, thanks for the clarification, I updated the photo subtitle. Are you referring to the original trip post (which I figured was submitted by one of you two) or my reply with photos, I'm Henrik by the way. Cheers!
