sepultura
Going down to Shasta for the first time next week and I am looking for current info. Wondering if anyone can tell me if the Wintun-Hotlum Route is still in shape for a ski descent, or advice on what route would be best right now for skis or boots. Looking to summit with the family so easier routes are what we had in mind. Thanks!
Whatcomboy
SMG Shasta Mountain Guides are good for reports on ski mountaineering route conditions on Shasta. Give em a call. I climbed Avalanche Gulch last Friday and saw a few skiing from below red rocks, 12,500 maybe. Above that it was too wind blown for skis. sepultura
Thanks on that Whatcomboy! I will give them a shout! How was Avy Gulch holding up?
Whatcomboy
Very good. Snow starts about 8000 ft. Camped at Helen Lake. Was surprised to see so few people. Big area to ski in. Easy solo to summit.
