WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Conditions on SW colouir SEWS

Recommended Posts

Now that Hwy 20 is open I would love to do the SW colouir on SEWS. I know this climb only has a very short window (maybe a month?)

Anyone been up recently?

Thanks.

Skied it on Saturday.

One section that is fun climbing (short, maybe 20 feet total) and then a scramble to the summit once your reach the top of the couloir (I stayed in crampons and used tools, partner climbed it without tools and without crampons).

It should be much softer now, but we had really good firm climbing conditions on Saturday.

A rope is not required, though some might want to use it in some sections.

You "skiers" always make us slowshoe folks feel bad :D

From what you are saying; I am assuming there was plenty of snow up the entire colouir?

There's a TR from yesterday in the North Cascades section of the forum...

Hit it soon, and hit it early in the day. It was quite soft in the afternoon, and the loose rocks are thawing out.
