ChrisFreye
I was wondering what everyone's opinion was on a pair of twin climbing ropes. I am thinking about getting twin Bluewater 7.7 Ice Floss but I am not quite sure if I should get 60 M or 70 M. Thoughts?
ALLCAPS
62M IS IDEAL! MERRY CHRISTMAS
Paul_detrick
I have a set and 60 is great, 70 if it was a single. 60 m is a long lead, and they will get you down. jmho
Alex
The ice floss is great for really long multi pitch routes where weight is at a premium, or complex mixed routes where there might be a lot of rope drag. Polar Circus, Murchison, Trophy Wall, that kind of stuff. But I tell you what it's very stretchy and pulling it on long rappels gets very tiring! Its so small diameter it's harder to grip and so stretchy that at the end of the line even with 2 strands its extremely bouncy. If you are just buying a cragging rope(s) I honestly would opt for thicker strands these days.
jayhawk
I use the ice floss 60's in the Winter. I find that while occasionally a 70 would be nice in terms of lead length, I have enough trouble getting the two ropes unclustered while setting up rappels. Those skinny ropes sure seem to love to get knotted up, and you have to be a real flake-nazi. It would be that much worse with 70's, and you certainly don't need any extra rappel length. Ryan Hoover
Just got a set of the PMI Verglass 70's. I'd highly recommend them. As far as length, if your planning on doing much up north, 70's can make climbs/rappels a lot quicker. I know I've appreciated the extra length!
