WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

West Face NEWS rappel route

Recommended Posts

Snow creek wall has a walk off and when done properly will get you down faster then rappeling.

It's been a couple of years, but I remember the old rap route as already having decent hardware, and consisting of only two raps, following by a little scramble. Why would someone go to all the work to add a multi-rap line down the face? I don't really understand the motivation. I bet it's still faster to go the original way.

i don't understand your reasoning for bolting a rappel route down the west face of news. the preexisting descent route is easy and safe, but may be hazardous for guided clients with minimal mountain experience.

I've never understood this idea. A competent guide with clients is much safer than a party with two new climbers.
