CoffeeBiner
Interesting photo project at Mazama Blog. A PSU geologist repeated glacier photos originally taken in 1901 and 1902. http://mazamas.blogspot.com/2013/03/glacier-rephoto-database-mount-hood.html
powderhound
Curious if they were taken at the same time of year...
ivan
makes it quite obvious why the elliot glacier headwall was once popular
ivan
doesn't look like the white river glacier will even last the century...
ScaredSilly
Nice. Hopefully, there will be some publicity on such projects. Curious if they were taken at the same time of year... Yes, they try to do take the photos at the same approximate time frame. Usually within weeks if the dates are known. Other wise a best guess. Fairweather
This one in the Olympic Mountains is pretty stunning too. We visited this cirque last September, however, and lots of perennial snow remained. Hopefully the heavy/late-season snow cycle we've been in these last few years will revive this dead glacier. Not optimistic though. http://www.nps.gov/olym/naturescience/images/Lillian-Glacier-1905-2010-pair_1.jpg
