zub
Is the Stuart Lake TH kept open this time o'year?
keenwesh
they actually install a seasonal tram that runs from 8 mile campground to colchuck lake. You have to ride a poma to get up to aasguard pass, unfortunately.
dave schultz
That tram is free, right?
matt_warfield
Is the Stuart Lake TH kept open this time o'year? Smartasses aside, generally the road is closed at Icicle in winter. But technically the Stuart TH is open year round, it just depends on whether you can drive there or not. So I am a smartass too. telemarker
Any more recent photo beta? Hoping the TC runnels are a little more filled in by now... check them out and report back, please :-) I was up there last Friday, 12/28. I looked closely and saw no ice in the runnels. It looked like a lot light powder over rock. Here is a photo of Colchuck Peak with similar conditions. I skied the NBC, and there was no ice anywhere in the gulley. alecapone
TC's looked the same yesterday as in john's pics. Stuarts north side was sporting a mean wind slab on sugar. One foot on two in places going up the sherpa. Awesome schralping. Thanks kevino and john. The skin track we put in the mtnrs past the junction is flawless. Trick is to hug the bottum of colchuck as soon as you get through the first meadow. 0 up and downs and talus to contend with.
