WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Maybe...maybe not. He was leading on doubles so I'm assuming he had gear in below him that should have saved him from "death".

Scary shit for sure but there is nothing in that video that shows someone coming anywhere near death.

Good example of why climber's should get their asses out of bed earlier.

He was leading on doubles...

hmm. Missed the ropes. I thought he was soloing, but I have yet to go back and watch again.

Ropes... pfft. totally changes the scary factor.

Not that having the entire sheet of ice you're climbing peal off the mountain isn't a shit inducing episode.

I'm certain I'd have to change or abandon my undergarments after an incident like that.

...and Rob, you're welcome to go fuck yourself with your ice tools. Sorry if I missed your little joke. I guess I don't spend every waking moment trolling internet forums so I can insult people I don't know to make myself feel better.

Happy climbing!

I have now seen this vid posted on like 10 different websites!

from what i read (even though he had ropes) the guy was run out. typically you don't want to test your ice screws, esp. in conditions like that.

nice save be the people above him.

Got a link to any of that reading? I'd be curious to know the story behind this.

"Let's see, should I scamper off to the solid looking neve to my right, or try my luck with this thin sheet of snice with water running underneath it?"
