tvashtarkatena
Gene had a cute little manufactured hammer/pick that worked so well I made one of my own, and added a spike to it. This system will get any pro out, no matter how stuck. My rack's practically doubled since I made this thing. tvashtarkatena
No worries, just use it on the piece you're hanging off of. Problem solved!

JasonG
I usually just use a #2 or 3 Camalot and my nut tool. I haven't run into a piece worth having that I couldn't remove with this combo. My nut tool has a plastic handle that doesn't appear to damage the cam.... But, I like your style!
genepires
Nice going Pat. Looks good. My little thing was made by Pika and I don't know if they still make them. Having welding skills and/or friends with skills/tools is a good thing.

tvashtarkatena
Pika Nutbuster. The site I went says 'not available' though. $32. I'll make one for anyone who wants one for $100.
tvashtarkatena
I've done that, but damn, my cams are so old...I don't want to stack the deck any more than I have to.

OlympicMtnBoy
Nice handiwork Pat! I use a small nail puller/hammer that I found in the hardware store for a few dollars, like a tiny hammer/crow bar. Works great for stubborn loose flakes on new routes too. tvashtarkatena
I remember that thing. I just had a hankering to carve some mild steel. Those railroad spikes cut like buttah. Drilling out the crampon connector? Not so soft. My knuckles are so grateful... Edited January 10, 2012 by tvashtarkatena
layton
there was a very very funny thread on mountainproject called "booty clacker". Dude was acting like he owned the secrete formula for cold fusion. You should go on there and take him down a notch.

tvashtarkatena
Its funny when you deal with old technology, you find that most mechanical stuff was invented a long, long time ago.

montypiton
I just carry my old first-generation Chouinard alpine hammer - pick works as a nut tool, and plenty of meat to persuade reluctant residents to yield...
