JosephH
Pretty kick ass work on these folks part: http://www.biolitestove.com/CampStove_Video.html And a version for developing nations where charging facilities are limited and cooking is currently an inefficient use of wood, polluting, and a health hazard with the smoke killing more people than malaria. chirp
Just got mine today, gonna fire it up tomorrow and see what it can do. First impressions are that its moderately durable, time will tell, comes with starter sticks (wax and sawdust) only 6 included so might be for "adverse" situations. Tyson.g
That is awesome, but 2 pounds! Yikes! I think the idea is one of the coolest things I have ever seen though.
Sig Olsen
I agree with tyson. I think if I was going to do a month hike with no source of power, I may consider it. I am not sure I would need my phone charged if I was in the woods for 30 days since I would be away from a cell tower surely. But, it does open up options regarding my delorme gps... Great idea. Why can't I get one for my house?
Sig Olsen
Where can I get the home stove? I only see the backpacking version for sale.
chirp
I believe that the sale of the camping stoves is helping fund the home version designed optimally for 3rd world communities. (Somalia, Uganda, Chad, and Detroit). I would drop them an email perhaps and see what they say. Been messing with mine, nothing scientific but it will boil a small pot of water (pint+) in about 4 minutes and that was with poor fuel (green twigs and less than they recommend). Green/wet fuel makes an awesome wall of smoke though A small fan, powered by the battery helps the fire get going and adjusts its intensity as needed during the cooking process. More data as I get it, but as it stands, I love the stove. A definite step in the correct direction.
