mattp
Yes, Kurt may be exhibiting that phenomenon that I've observed in the past: in October everybody wants to ski when they are in top climbing shape, there is no snow in the mountains, and the crags are dry; while in April they all want to rock climb when the crags are wet, their ski legs are in prime shape, and the ski hills are full of snow. We have here an excellent picture, though, and I'm thinking of pulling my skis out. Thanks, Kurt.

kurthicks
Gentlemen--The key is to optimize your activity based on current conditions, not necessarily the "season." Today was unquestionably skiing after two days of snow (about 14" of fresh on Baker at 7000'), followed by a perfectly calm sunny day; next week is looking like it's going to be alpine and rock climbing... it was a fantastic day out on the planks though! AlpineK
Nice pics! Mmmm powder In the Fall folks want to ski since they've probably taken time off and or miss it. The same is true about climbing in the spring.

kurthicks
we saw a little wind effect up on the crest of Heliotrope, but otherwise it was stable. we dug no pits. 2-5" of pow in most places. pole pen was up to 30cm.
