CurtainClimber Posted August 21, 2011 Share Posted August 21, 2011 Trip: The Brothers - South Chute Date: 8/14/2011 Trip Report: After a quick trip to Victoria Saturday, decided to car camp at the Lena Lake trail head Saturday night for an early start to the Brothers on Sunday. Nate and I left the trail head at around 5:15. We were up at Brothers camp at 7:30. Made it to the summit, after some wrong turns around 5Kft due to the mist and clouds, around noon. Back at the car at 5:30. We didn't hit any snow until the avalanche wash outs about brothers camp in the first few drainage's. Lots of good snow for kicking steps up the south chute, then all rock the last 600ft or so. We were mostly in the clouds all day up high, but had a brief clearing while on the summit to see short distances. Missed the trail on the way down and stayed east of the south chute, but did a little down climbing and ran back into our tracks at around 4Kft. All in all, a good day. Thanks to the two person team camped at brothers camp ahead of us for kicking steps! Gear Notes: Ice axe, helmet, gaiters. No crampons necessary, soft enough snow.
