JayB
People I know have had good experiences with Jim Mates: http://www.customboot.8m.com/ There's a few reviews that pop up if you Google his name. http://www.epicski.com/forum/thread/100886/trip-report-jim-mates-custom-boots
pcg
Jay Peterson, in Portland, is very good. He does complete alignment, including cants, custom footbeds, stretching/molding/replacing liners, shell mods, etc., including video taping of you skiing until alignment is correct. He is an ex pro skier and bc guide and knows AT gear very well. He has done two pairs of boots for me and I couldn't be happier. CaleHoopes
Had a great experience with mountaineering boots at Sturtevants in Bellevue, WA. They are primarily a ski shop so I'm sure their expertise is ski boots but they did a fantastic job on my mountaineering boots. Just ask Dane how good they are - he basically sent me there. Dan_Miller
JayB and I concur. Another satisfied customer for East Ballard's/Phinney Ridge's Jim Mates and Custom Boot Fitting. Both for AT boots, and even single, fairly rigid mountain boots.
everyfrog
Just an update - I wound up going with Marmot Mountainworks in Bellevue - they were able to get my bindings mounted and my boots fitted all on Saturday morning. Issac and Frances at the shop were AMAZING. Super friendly and made sure I had everything I needed. I walked out of there feeling like I could have worn my boots all day. In fact, I skied at Blewett Pass on Sunday (first day ever on AT gear) and didn't once think about my boots for the entire 7 hours we were out. HIGHLY recommend them.
