johnkelley
Trip: Beneign Peak - Date: 1/16/2011 Trip Report: Here's another new line on Beneign. Took us about 48hrs round trip from a high camp with one bivi. It goes at M6, WI5, and is about 3,400ft long. Here's a few pics of Kevin on the first pitch and on the crux in the dark. Approach Notes: Eklutna this time

DPS
Wow! Elegant line. Nice photos. Is this in the Chugach? What kind of rock is it?
wfinley
Another nice line! How was it coming over from Eklutna? Where'd you come in from? DPS - the western Chugach is primarily composed of greywacke. An immature sedimentary rock not known for consistency.
johnkelley
We went up the drainage between Bee's Heaven and the Watchman. Take a right at the end of the lake, go over the pass (5,000ft) seperating Beneign and Bee's Heaven, and down to the Wall Street. It's a 4'000ft elevation gain going in this way but it's nice coming out.

Off_White
"On the crux in the dark" is kind of an understated awe inspiring description. Looks like a wild outing, how long does daylight last up there this time of year?
K.J.D.
Here's a couple more photos that fit the "crux in the dark" category. They are from John and I's line on Nantina Point last season. As to how much daylight this time of year, the more pertinent question is how many sets of extra headlamp batteries do you bring. These are low on the pitch, and unfortunately don't show the WI6/M6 crux section up a little higher. -Kevin Photo Credit: John Kelley
