summitchaserCJB
Trip: Darrington, 3 oclock rock - Silent Running, Cornucopia. Date: 6/2/2010 Trip Report: So Todd and I ran up to 3 oclock rock, forgetting some essential beta (like the approach information). We ended up on Cornucopia (we discovered later). It's a fun 10- that will throw you through a loop if you expect 5.9+. We then ventered down and found Silent Running by soloing up slabs to find the first bolt. We did the first 4 pitches and got off the route at 9:30 pm. Pictures for the aesthetically inclined or illiterate. Approach Notes: Check out the real beta./
rocketparrotlet
How quickly does that wall dry off after rain?
summitchaserCJB
I'm not sure. But the better question is how fast it dries off during the rain. Of course hard stuff is harder when wet, but you can do quite a bit in a light drizzle.
mountainsloth
the wall dries quickly with a little wind and sun. I have seen it dry off completely in 1 hour before.
Pilchuck71
the wall dries quickly with a little wind and sun. I have seen it dry off completely in 1 hour before. True story! That is how it worked out for me two weekends ago. From water running down in torrents all over to basically bone dry....and right quick like too! rocketparrotlet
Wow! Maybe that's the place to go when weather is unpredictable. I'm just afraid of slabs in the rain, but I suppose the more popular routes are well-equipped for bail. Nice!
summitchaserCJB
Ya. But silent running is kinda run out in the begining so keep that in mind.
summitchaserCJB
Not to say that you can't bail.

mountainsloth
you could almost butt slide down the first pitch of silent running. it's maybe 50 degrees.

summitchaserCJB
I know you can run up most of the first slab of Silent Running.
G-spotter
It's a fun 10- that will throw you through a loop if you expect 5.9+. if the guidebook says 9+ you should be expecting 10c.
