TrogdortheBurninator
Nice classic tour! Never sure how to represent the grade of mean green. Is it a real 4, a sandbagged 4, an easy 5, a real 5, etc. Crux felt pretty tough to me a month ago. Hopefully I'll get back up there before the season melts away. billcoe
Good stuff it's true, but I confess that I am so ready for spring and summer......
powderhound
Sounds like you had a good time. Pictures of Cabin fever bring back good memories of soloing and having huge chuncks hit me in the face and then building a deadman with a tree. thanks for the photo stoke. cbcbd
Badass! Man, do I miss the ice. Was this some sort of Nomic meetup that I missed?
Crackman
Awsome John We must be on the same wavelength. Was in Cody for 4.5 days a couple weeks before you and did some of the same great climbs. We had blue bird skies and perfect conditions. Here's a link to my pics. Sadly it was the only ice for me this season. http://picasaweb.google.com/Holscher.Tim/CodyIceFeb2010?feat=directlink A while ago you asked about my first trip there. I never wrote up anything but the guy I was climbing with did. Here's a link to his TR. http://www.splitterchoss.com/2008/03/11/cody-ice-in-wild-windy-wyoming/

John Frieh
Thanks all! I think David and Troy are working on editing some helmet cam footage Never sure how to represent the grade of mean green. Is it a real 4, a sandbagged 4, an easy 5, a real 5, etc. Crux felt pretty tough to me a month ago. Hopefully I'll get back up there before the season melts away. My best guess is (i.e. could be totally wrong) is on the FA it was super fat hence the WI4 rating. I think in normal years and/or early season it is closer to what most would consider a Cody 5. To me it felt like 4/4+ but even then I cant be trusted as I hadnt thrown tools in over 2 months Ill be out there in March... you should come up! Was this some sort of Nomic meetup that I missed? Next meeting is first weekend in March... currently looking for carpooling partners! Send me a PM if interested! A while ago you asked about my first trip there. I never wrote up anything but the guy I was climbing with did. Here's a link to his TR. http://www.splitterchoss.com/2008/03/11/cody-ice-in-wild-windy-wyoming/ SICK trip Tim! I want to climb Ovisight SO BAD! Thanks for sharing! i was thinking the other day that you had been pretty quiet lately as regards TRs. I have a new reason not to run off every single weekend
t_rutl
Hellz yeah J!! Kick-ass trip! Cody is all that and more. Too many good pics...gotta add some more...I'll have the vid up in the next day or two as well. Thanks again man...until next time! About sums up the entire trip: Smiles all around David coming somewhere along Mean Green Following Frieh being a badass David coming up the crux Sooooo nice
esugi
Great work by all. I miss Cody! Looks like good conditions overall, especially Cabin Fever. When I climbed it, the top of Cabin Fever collapsed AFTER I climbed it. Pitch 4 of MG looks stout! How did Moretorium look?
davidk
Troy's new HD Wide Hero helmet cam turned out to be a pretty neat toy. Here's the result of my first video editing foray: [video:vimeo]9709118 This was such a great trip - sooo much mileage on super classic Cody routes. Thanks to my outstanding partners
kevino
Nice work guys. Way more ice climbed than our trip in october! David, this whole jobless thing is working well for you! You sure you're going to be able to give it up?
John Frieh
How did Moretorium look? Looked in to me. Ask Mulkey if he heard if anyone has climbed it recently. GREAT video David!
trainwreck
Cool video! I think I saw you swing your tools four times during the whole thing.
davidk
Cool video! I think I saw you swing your tools four times during the whole thing. Thanks! Mean Green was really hooked out, but it was super fun to just cruise on the first 3 pitches. Kinda nice after having to earn EVERY stick on Cabin Fever.
