WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Mt Maude: Is there a scramble up the Entiat side?

Recommended Posts

A guy I work with is looking to hike and camp in the area and wants to know if there is an easy scramble or walk up on Mt. Maude from the entiat side. Does anyone know what routes are on that side that are EASY....I MEAN EASY? (walk up to class 3).

No spray please....Thanks!!!

There is no easy scramble from Entiat glacier side. The walk up route is from Leroy Creek basin, it's a beauty.

Have fun!

Actually, I think you could access the scramble route on Maudes south side from the entiat river trail, if you were so inclined. I believe you could climb out of the valley up to ice lakes and on to the south ridge.

I haven’t done this, but when I was off route once, I explored more of this area than I wanted to and it appeared possible. But don’t listen to me, I was off route! There is also a reference to this made in Darin Berdinkas trip report of his Entiat icefall climb. Check out his website, he talks about descending from the south ridge to the entiat valley via Ice lakes.

Could make for a fun day of exploring, even if he never gets on to the route.

Rgds

No real walk up from all the way up at entiat meadows. You can access the SW shoulder route from ice lakes. There are several routes to access the lakes exiting from the Entiat River trail.
