DanO
I have been looking at all the hats on the REI website. Anyone have any favorite hats? One of the hats is this one. http://www.rei.com/product/781572 Use it on glacier climbing etc. Thanks Dan
John Frieh
Used this one in AK + 2 very large bandanas (for my neck) http://www.rei.com/product/745932 Are you planning on wearing it under a helmet?
TMO
DanO, Your choice is a good one. I have one just like it but all white... keeps me very cool on those sunny days on glaciers.

Le Piston
I have found it difficult to find the perfect all around hat. I have a Marmot Precip Safari hat which is great for rain, has a nice wide brim, but even the light color is too hot for glacier sun. I have an REI sun hat which works great in the sun, but not waterproof. I was wondering if anyone has tried the Mountain Hardwear Stimulus hat?...2 oz weight, wide brim, and waterproof. I've only seen them online. With a helmet I just use a bandana to protect the neck.
denningsrogue
Try this. Patagonia Velocity cap, Buff and a merino wool toque combined with a light weight (eg RAB Latok Alpine) rain shell with a hood. Can't think of a situation this combination doesn't cover.
Pete_H
There has been a recent advancement in headwear technology. It is called a visor. Visors keep the top of your head cool yet simultaneously provide shade for your face. You can frequently find them at your local convenience store next to the beer koozies and porn.
