kevin trieu Posted April 22, 2009 Share Posted April 22, 2009 What are the people's thoughts on using a 0-degree bag for the West Ridge of Hunter? High camp will probably be below 12k'. I'll also have the Mountain Hardwear Chugach pants and Feathered Friends Icefall parka to compliment the bag. It is a Western Mountaineering Kodiak bag. DPS Posted April 22, 2009 Share Posted April 22, 2009 I used a 15 degree bag on Hunter, but that was early June. I wore MH Chugach pants and a big down parka layered over the top of the bag. MtnManMatt Posted May 8, 2009 Share Posted May 8, 2009 I used a 0F bag and a 30F bag for a Denali trip last year and was fine. I used the 0F bag up to 14k on the West Butt and the 30F bag at both 17k and for 3 days on the Cassin. I also had the option to use the lighter bag as a blanket if it was really cold. Probably doesn't make sense but we did the trip a bit different than most. Along with 2 bags for most people we had 7 tents, 5 stoves, and 1200#s of gear for our 6 person team.
