"We cannot attract and retain the best and brightest talent to lead and staff the AIG businesses, which are now being operated principally on behalf of the American taxpayers — if employees believe their compensation is subject to continued and arbitrary adjustment by the U.S. Treasury," Liddy said.

Best and brightest, eh? And these are the same fucktards that are responsible for the biggest corporate loss in any quarter (~$62 billion) in history?

Yeah... best and brightest, my sweet ass...:provoke::anger::fahq:

here is an idea:

"What about the American middle class...aren’t we too big to be allowed to fail? I'm sick of this "we've got to pay them top dollar...they're the best!" excuse as well. AIG has been run aground under the stewardship of these same individuals; they can't be that much more talented than the rest of us. If AIG is in fact "being operated principally on behalf of the American taxpayers" as Mr. Liddy has stated, then convert the AIG staff's pay scale to the federal employee's pay structure. Either they accept it...or they can go kick rocks..."

You've proved once again that you can take the boy outta the commie, but you can't take the commie out of the boy.

Remember when the idea was that a bonus was given to you when you did something well, when you did something over and above what was expected of you?

A contractual obligation to pay out a bonus, as is apparently the case with AIG, sounds more like an entitlement than an exception.

Furthermore, wouldn't one assume that any contract set up for paying out a bonus a year in the future (as is the case here with AIG where the contract was set up in early 2008) would have in it provisos for positive targets to have been met when it comes time for said bonuses to be paid out? Without that, there is no incentive to do good work, much less exceptional work?

Give me a break!

Any place I have been bonuses have been based upon something like sales, stock price, profits etc. For AIG all of these have been ----- these SOB's should get zilch except a swift kick and consider themselves lucky they are not twisting slowly in the wind.

if you are so much for a free enterprise, why don't you object to the fact of AIG taking money from the FED?As the matter of fact right now the US Government is the majority share holder in this company, hence implementing such pay scale would not be so strange. These "bright" individuals leveraged 35:1 the assets of the company and they should be getting fired, rather then getting millions of dollars in bonuses, financed by US taxpayers. however you seem not to be able to comprehend simple facts. your insults are WEAK you fig pucker.

McCain by landslide....... now fuck off.

you piss sicking golden shower closet puff. get off my soap box cunt.

Wow....someone just got bitch slapped.

Kevpuff, with your customary literary discernment you've missed the gist.

SoapBoxBob, in the language of carnal lovers, is lovingly communicating that though his Woolite love fluids initially Gained and crested in a Tide, he's now so dry (as if his box were desiccunt/kitty litter-filled ) that he requests a fur-lough for his soaped box.

Though, it sounds like a twenty-mule team train could drive through it.

Careful there, cowboy.

So, by your logic, the lien holder on your home should be allowed to allocate your unrelated personal finances? This is why I was against this shit to begin with. It's a step down the wrong path. The sad thing is that you, of all people, should know this.

The US Government has an 80% equity stake in AIG. We own it. Capitalism says, owners get to tell company's what to do.

That's most definitely a step in the right direction from the cloistered god like CEOs of the past decade.
