Hawaii to denali? warm beaches to frigid ice slopes? talk about thermal shock.

I used a arcteryx pack on denali, some big bora one and it was good. I have a big and lightish MEC pack that has worked very good at big loads, if the MR packs are crap (which is unlikely) and the arcteryx pack are too expensive (likely).

Mystery Ranch as I'm sure you already know is the same guy who designed and sold the rights to Dana some time ago.

IMHO Mystery Ranch is a step up the evolutionary food chain. Just make sure you get the made in the US of A Bozeman stuff and not the Camelback made in China product.

I have several of the MILSPEC MR packs, and they are AWESOME McLovin!

There was a post not to long ago in the yard sale that had a nice Dana Terraplane for sale. I think he only wanted $50. Probably long gone by now though. Also, I've seen a lot of Dana packs on e-bay recently, some were really good deals, others were not. Love my old Astralplane but rarely get to use it anymore.

Thanks for the info guys and awesome link. Hadn't seen their site in awhile. I'm leaning toward the G7000 overkill version. The old Dana Design packs (pre-Marmot)were heavier than most but carried brutal weight way more comfortably than most. I like the external Wag Bag tubes that keep the stuff separated from my Bagel Sandwiches. The updated Mystery Ranch versions look like they hold that same theory....don't count ounces when choosing a backpack. I never separate the sleeping bag compartment or use the side access zips. Maybe I could have them custom make one with out those bells whistles and lose a few ozs...A bonus that they are made in Bozman again.
