Maine-iac Posted November 4, 2008 Share Posted November 4, 2008 I am having a hard time coming up with things that Bush has done that are positives. As far as I can tell our economy has gotten worse, the environment isn't doing too well, and not many people outside of the U.S. like us. Basically, he gave them a bunch of money to build centers to develope job training programs. Too bad he refused to do that for his own country. But at least he is not a socialist. I'd be happy to see the GOP disappear after the screw-job they have done to this country, but I'd settle for having them go back to the good old fiscal conservative, stay out of people's personal lives, and not engage in unjustified wars kind of Republican. Â Hopefully this clusterfuck of a presidency will hasten the reformation of the republican party along more traditional conservative principles, but I doubt it. I think the republican party has abandoned that era alltogether, and is embracing the Palin-esque political demagoguery based purely on enforcing christian ideology upon society. Hopefully, it will reconstitute into the fiscally conservative, socially laze faire form you mentioned, but, like any wounded beast, it is currently shrinking further and becoming even more dementedly rabid....which is good for the side of modernity, I suppose, but the Dems definitely need a counter to their bullshit on occasion. Most of their "bullshit" over the last 30 years has stemmed from their complete lack of courage, conviction, and program in the face of the conservative "revolution" rather than any "abuses of power" that need balance from the right-wing. Looking around at the scorched earth the GOP has left the Dems to govern, I wouldn't say that now's the time for consensus-building with the Reich that's just had its ass handed to them. The GOP has done quite well in governing as if it's had a mandate, it's time for the Dems to sack up and govern when they really do. It's about "change" remember? Grow a pair. Drityharry is some what right it was late 2006 that they change from abstinance only and started handing out condoms,the aids count was going up and the abstinance only was a waste of time and money as it is in the USA,like people are going to stop fucking??
