WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Titanium pitons

Recommended Posts

Anyone know where a guy can get a hold of some titanium rock pins...I know Ushba used to make these, but they're not around any more. I haven't had much luck searching, tried eBay before too. I don't want many, just a few (4-5) to lighten the rack for alpine projects in place of LAs. Any tips would be great.

Cheers!

Jon

I was in Paris and London earlier this year and couldnt find anything. Also asked on UK climbers and no one knew of any dealers currently distributing them.

Alpindustria in Moscow, Russia stocks them. Just a short walk from the Izmailovskaya metro station. Alvo Titanium who used to make them for Ushba is still around.

Scroll to the bottom of http://www.alpindustria.ru/catalog/alp/spare_p/1395/ to see a few, but there were more varieties when I was in the store a couple years ago. Good luck trying to order them online though. ;-)

mountainworks in provo ut. had what seemed to be one of the largest pin selection i've seen. not sure if they do mail-order, but they were, in my experience, very good to work with.

Interesting, never had any problems with them although I have always ordered by phone. Definitely something to think about in the future.
