ricklar
Bump... Â I'm climbing North with a group this weekend and we're trying to get more or less current conditions. There's a report on Summitpost from 8/3 that shows snow on the traverse... not sure if 13 days would melt it out but it would be nice. sparverius
north sister is scary pile of dog feces late in season. Why not wait till it's snowy and frozen and safer?
PaulO
Though the traverse is not really visible in the picture above I can see enough snow showing at the near edge to say it very likely is still covered. Never completely melts until at least September most years. This weekend will be a soft sloppy mess up there with the extreme freezing levels 24/7 several days. rocky_joe
sparverius- we can't really wait since we're trying for a sub 20 hour marathon of the sisters and broken top but not til the 5th of september.
sparverius
alright. Be careful up there. It would be fun to wait for snow and do a ski traverse of the mentioned peaks.
luvshaker
The snow patch in recent years has really shrunk, and last year was gone by mid August. At least 5 years ago I climbed the route around Sept 1 with no axe or crampons. There was even somewhat of a scramble trail below what existed of the snow patch then. Made for a quick trip with out having to worry about the steep slush.
