WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Socialism... Welcome Back

"It may seem sad to many who invest and want to achieve maximum short-term effect, but we cannot and won't forget about the social importance of the actions we undertake," he said.

Imagine that, choosing social responsibility over capitalistic greed.

Yeah. We see that this system is too not without its faults. Remember a certain oil company who was headed by a personal and professional enemy of Putin? Hmmm... as with everything moderation is the key.

It may be sad--and sometimes ugly--but reward commensurate with innovation and capital risk is what moves a nation forward. Even the Chinese now understand this.

I'm not sure this country is really moving forward anymore. Total socialism is not the answer, but there are basic human needs like shelter, food, maybe include gas now, where gov't intervention might help. Ever hear of Maslov?

Putin learned that sort of social consciousness from the KGB, I bet.

Speaking of Putin, is that guy still the PM? Hasn't he been there, for like, ever? I thought he was out, or does that not happen yet?

He was president for two terms, now he's the PM and his hand-picked stooge successor is now president.

What's next for him after PM? Ceasar?

There appears to be some uncertainty whether the Russian term limits law applies to total term limits or consecutive term limits. It may be possible that after pulling Medvedev's puppet strings these next couple of years Putin will decide to run for President again...

Sorry, but our constitution provides for "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". The old Soviet constitution covered the shelter, food, and job things, I believe.

Chapter X, ARTICLE 118. Citizens of the U.S.S.R. have the right to work, that is, are guaranteed the right to employment and payment for their work in accordance With its quantity and quality.

I'll have to look for the food and shelter. I assume you're talking about in practice.
