WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

Hey,

I'll be in Juneau 7/10-14 and am looking for a partner to climb the Main Tower of the Mendenhall Towers - interested? I'm from Juneau and have some ideas on tours, but your best bet is to call The Foggy Mountain Shop in town and they'll set you up.

When are you going to be in Juneau? And, what type of trip are you loking for, day trips or multi day traverse of ice field?

There is a lot of snow and the sking is great right now and should be realy good into July, depending on how far you are willing to hike. If you use a heli you can probably ski all summer.

The plan right now is to be there from July 10-14, set up camp in the Ptarmigan / Lemon Creek area, and then run long day trips out onto the Icefield. A multiday traverse would be great fun, but I think the logistics from Skagway and vacation constraints might make it tough. Any suggestions for other tours?

Joe Stock ran a piece in Backcountry magazine several years ago on a ski tour in the Mendehall Towers area. Maybe try to check that out for some ideas/inspiration.
