Mostly depressed at how much people suck, and annoyed at how far they'll go to avoid confrontation.

If you really think an employee is ready to go off their rocker why in the world did you hire them in the first place?

Some company's have even gone a step further and hire outside firms to come in and the HR bad guys.

Good luck on the Cali position btw. As difficult as it taking the spot it really does sound like it's necessary.

If anything, I'd just write a letter to the HR person explaining it's a crappy way to treat anyone and that you worked with integrity and they should operate similarly.

Then move on, which you have. There's just too much bad energy out there - no reason to get caught up in it. Best of luck in your new position. If you manage to get to pubclub before you head to CA we're buying. :brew:

Mostly..... people suck, and annoyed at how far they'll go to avoid confrontation.

Coming from back east originally, I really fucking hate the whole PNW nicey nice passive aggressive BS. Back there a "fuck you" meant "fuck you"! Out west here a "good morning" or a "have a nice day" may in fact mean "fuck you".

CBS good luck in Calipornia dude, really, hope you don't forget how to climb choss though. BTW, I hear there is a certain 20 yo philosophy major down there somewhere looking fer a climbing mentor. Good luck wit dat too. ;)

They should just 'disappear' you during your lunch break.

"Where'd he go?"

"I dunno."

Gone.

Heh. I worked at a company that did that. Just randomly laid off a couple people a week for most of 2 months. The "sniper" was stalking the halls.

they thought it would be "better for moral" that way :noway:

I've accepted the job offer in California. The pay is more than three times what I was making at this part time job. I'm not devastated over it. Just disappointed. Good people work there. It could happen to others.

I think that the best thing you can do is to live long and prosper. tosspock3.jpg

Seriously, as far as "getting back" at these dripping cocks, the best way to do that is sharing that awareness of exactly what happened to you (b4 and afterwards) with the remaining folks there. Not in an angry, judgmental way, theres no need for that, they're adults. Just be honest, they can draw conclusions. Eventually, all the great employees will leave to get 3X the pay like you did, or go someplace where they are treated better, and these lameo's will get whats left....and they will eventually spiral into the pit of despair as their competitors, now fortified with excellent employees: compete against the remaining retards, lameo's and sycophants and eats their lunch every day.

Live long and prosper.

Wow!!! I've worked in HR for more than 10 years and have pretty much heard them all. This is one of the worst I've heard. One other was an owner of some DQ's in the north end decided to shutter their doors without telling anyone. Of course, they also didn't pay them the hours they were due up to that point and we kept getting calls from pissed employees.

Two hour into your shift, the manager who you spoke with earlier calls and tells you to meet him behind Customer Service. There he explains that you were laid off. There's not enough work.

Did they at least pay you for those two hours?

Actually, I went back and finished my shift. Hopefully, they'll put a check in the mail.

Are you not supposed to get two weeks notice of a layoff, or 2 weeks severance if no notice is given? Is there no labour code where you live? Don't let this pass without at least lodging a complaint somewhere. Definitely do as Billcoe suggests and warn the people that are making money for this company what happened. Would be nice if they didn't show up for work on Monday morning.

WA state is an "at will" state. you can be fired "at will" at any time with or WITHOUT cause. likewise you can quit at any time with no notice. as for severance - you only get that if the company offers it, and there's no guarantee of that at all. 2 weeks is nice, and often given, but generally only if you are a FT employee.
