Questions about Chamonix

Recommended Posts

Thinking about heading there this summer and wondering a few things

How hard is it to find english speaking partners for moderate+ routes?

Are there any good guide books in english covering alpine routes there?

Can you camp for free in chamonix?

What are the main cities to fly into from seattle?

information is slightly old (i.e. the Belvedere is now closed).

Shouldn't be a problem finding English speakers. Would be harder to find french speakers.

buy guidebooks in Chamonix

no free camping. Compared to other places in the alps fewer budget options. Look on other message boards (or on the message board at internet cafe in the main square) for a room let - have seen them for 300-400 euro a month.

Geneva + 20 euro transfer bus.

Free wifi at McDonalds. Fat drunk brits have invaded and driven up prices.
