Not looking to shell out big $$$ for a professional setup; just want to try this out once or twice.

My paragliding buddy put one on his helmet by simply sticking a small bolt from the inside-out through one of the vent holes, and then screwing the bottom of the camera (in the tripod/mounting hole)onto this.

Why not just get a pair of those video enabled glasses on Mission Impossible?

If you're looking for a cheap and easy helmet-cam, the Oregon Scientific ATC-2000 isn't a bad deal. Waterproof, records to a tiny memory card, runs about $100, and is about 2/3 the size of a can of Red Bull.
