brokenpick
I live in the east and haven't been in the mountains in years. Plan to come out to give Rainier a shot with a few of my non climbing running buddies, so we plan to use a guide service. I would appreciate any suggestions on which service to use. Also Emmonds or DC? Thks

shortstow
well you only have 3 to choose from: RMI AAI IMG I have heard good things about all of them. So I guess on who you talk to.
crmlla2007
By AAI do you mean American Alpine Institute or Alpine Ascents International? I think both do stuff on Rainier.
Couloir
The best guide service is the one having the most fun.
genepires
never a truer statement than above made on cc.com
kurthicks
By AAI do you mean American Alpine Institute or Alpine Ascents International? I think both do stuff on Rainier. The American Alpine Institute does not offer courses on the DC or Emmons route, only the Kautz. http://www.aai.cc/ProgramDetail/rainier/
crmlla2007
lol, true, when brokenpick asked about Emmons and DC I should have put 2 and 2 together and not come up with 5.
Billy
well you only have 3 to choose from: RMI AAI IMG I have heard good things about all of them. So I guess on who you talk to. Not exactly true. MRNP issues a certain number of CUA's (Commercial Use Authorizations) each year that AMGA Certified Alpine Guides can apply for. These are essentially a one time use guided trip. You can probably contact MRNP and see which guides have applied for, or received, a permit for next summer. This gives you a few more choices to choose from, and choices based on credentials.
