Fairweather
Amazing. A good book on this marathon and related Mt. Baker history is "Koma Kulshan" by John C. Miles (Mountaineer Books). It's out of print, but I have a copy you can borrow if you like. Not quite as good as A. Haines' Mountain Fever, but very entertaining. OlympicMtnBoy
Nice, whatever happened to the good 'ol days when sitting in a train getting a massage was still a part of the race!
letsroll
The hardman days. Train derailed, Flagged down car, thrown over horse, passed out twice. Talk about adventure. Not to mention the train, car start to the race. Sound like good times:)
Couloir
Nice! Thanks for the link Norman. BTW I still have your PM flagged. I'll give you a shout next time I'm in the mood for some punishment.
Norman_Clyde
I'll give you a shout next time I'm in the mood for some punishment. I was just down in PDX to carry my masochism to new heights . I should have called you. Despite the flat terrain, I encountered some highs and lows-- and I learned that where masochism is concerned, I am but an amateur.
