When the solution to the problem is to have everyone purchase medical insurance, wouldn't it be easier to have it provided by the government?

If you trust the government to protect your civil liberties while fighting a global terrorist threat, why wouldn't you trust them to remove your malignant tumor?

I mean, they are doing a good job, right?

The government is good at destroying things and killing people, bankrupting us all in the process. Those are not competencies we need in health care.

A government run by "conservatives" is good at destroying things and killing people, bankrupting us all in the process. Those are not people we need in our government.

:lmao:

Democrats are good at handing over critical technologies to foreign countries creating crises for R's to clean up, Chamberlain-esque appeasement policies, vacillation, big-budgets, feel-good "solutions" that have no positive effect, and cripple the economy, and obfuscation. Can't wait for the train-wreck (again)!

According to Greenspan the only recent president with any success with the federal budget and economy was Clinton. Given the current state of affairs how could anyone do worse, Rep or Dem. Anyone will look intelligent by default following this two term mess.

and who controlled the purse strings under Clinton during those glory years of fiscal constraint (and one must not forget that those budgets had an influx of cash from a huge tax hike)? hmmm?

That a person can simultaneously believe that the government is corrupt, power-hungry leviathan hell-bent on trampling the rights and freedoms encoded in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights on one hand, while simultaneously fantasizing about a state of affairs in which the same government literally has your life in its hands as the sole custodian of all of your most sensitive personal information, the sole provider of healthcare, and the serves as the sole paymaster - and thereby the sole arbiter - responsible for all healthcare decisions is quite astonishing.

The coercive powers of any government in any society increase in direct proportion to the extent that the government controls the economy, so a socialist sounding the alarm-bells about the dangers of excessive government power is about as convincing as a prostitute preaching the virtues of chastity.

Universal health care is just another big government power grab. The left hopes to further control our lives, making us dependent on them, and oh so grateful for the few bread crumbs they throw our way.

Just to add to that....they aren't (wouldn't be) the sole custodian of your most sensitive personal info. A lot of folks have access to stuff folks think is private. Here's a clue: it ain't.

Well having a Rep administration and Congress in charge for the last 6 years seems to have heightened the efficiencies I see.

The last few years sure resembled 1992-1994. It seems the shared power scheme can work better. Too bad the D's in office now are so spineless (although I would never count on THEM to cut spending).

Please tell me what the govenrment can't do to you today. I don't think denying you a surgery for an ingrown toenail is much of of persuasive tool when all they have to do is declare you a terrorist and throw you in jail.

Look at all those oppressed swedes.

Seems to work quite well for all other industrialized countries and the two largest sectors of government health care, the VA and medicare, are far more efficient deliverers of health care than any private sector insurance company.

The public sector effeciently provides other resources, emergency care, police, fire protection, schooling.

You can spend your money proping up the profit and advertisement sector, or you can actually spend it more efficiently on health care.

I haven't read Ms. Clinton's proposal yet - but I bet it is a half step. She has too much money from the insurance companies now to try anything creative.
