jackstraw0083 Posted July 20, 2007 Share Posted July 20, 2007 I was hoping on coming out to challenger from utah on july 27 to give it a go, but with the snow bridge as it is, it's not looking good? Dustin_B Posted July 21, 2007 Share Posted July 21, 2007 There will mostly likely be a way to get past the schrund lower down on the left side (climber's left), it will also most likely involve some pretty steep snow. In this picture you can see the schrund running more or less the length of the upper glacier. The easy snow bridges over the bergschrund were just to the left of the fin of snow running up the right side (this fin of snow can be seen in the other poster's picture above). We ascended straight up the groove to the left of this fin. I would imagine that you could find a way through on the left side somewhere although it would likely involve climbing (and down climbing) 50+ degree snow up the upper face.
