tvashtarkatena, I don't recall any GW thread you've posted in having been locked. There's about 15 GW threads over there. I recall 2 of them are locked (diabtribes re. Al Gore). We usually only lock threads that get way off topic, devolve into politics, or in which people are just taking shots at each other instead of contributing to the discussion. BTW, enjoyed your trip reports over there. Isn't this thread about trip reports? Sorry to intrude again. Out of here.

You are right the thread is about Trs. My trs are posted elsewhere as most know but I will share some images from some stuff I have done the past couple weeks. Its all about the mountains and actual climbing not buying/having the gear and claiming/pretending you climb.

BTW, to the extent people can look beyond labels of "hiker" or "climber" or the forum they hang out at, here is an example of the labeling feature I referred to. I think it's a good example of something positive that can result when people focus less on differences and put that energy into collaborative efforts.

One man's 'just taking pot shots' is another's pretty good discussion on the topic. Moderation is too heavy handed and, as a result, the site is simply too boring for my taste. I went elsewhere as a result. The GW thread was simply the last straw.

 

In contrast, this site has a mix of good, serious information, activism, and a playpen for recreational cyber jousting. As a result, it attracts a broader group of folks, from the top outdoor talent to posers like myself. In short, it has room for just about everyone. If you're a wanker, of course, as several members of your community are just now discovering, you'll be treated accordingly.

 

Look, it's your site to do with as you please. This is just my feedback.

second, i never post TR's and there are many reasons for this. I don't climb that hard, and i don't climb so that other people can know what i do. i climb because i love it. if i take a camera it almost never sees the light of day because i am way to busy living in the moment. The only ONLY reasons to post a trip report in my never to be humble opinion is because you did something note worthy. leading your first 5.7 at vantage is bull shit and only means any thing to YOU. how self centered can you possibly be? so no you can't see my mountain porn. I would be more than happy to direct you to the nakid picture of me on the internet though because i do enjoy actual porn.

 

and for the record i was out climbing 5.7's today and now i am going to get fucked so am am getting all kinds.

 

I don't climb much during the week, because i have a successful career, spend time with my kids most every day and have 50% custody of them. I have a functioning co-parenting relationship with my ex husband, i have many friends, a multitude of hobbies and interests and a wonderful boyfriend and extended family.
