bigwallben
Hello, looking for partner for lower wall tomorrow. If you are in Seattle, I will pay for gas, your lunch, and lead anything on the lower wall for you. The weather is forecast to be excellent tomorrow. I can bring: rope, rack, ....etc. Ben Gilkison

bigwallben
Just talked to someone currently living in Index. The weather is totally dry. So, are there really climbers on this site. Looks like 50 people have checked this post out.

Gary_Yngve
if i didn't have an important meeting in the morning and plans in the evening, i'd have ditched work in a heartbeat.
Reid
If we leave at five will you still pay for lunch?
bigwallben
If we leave at five will you still pay for lunch? Sure, just back from Little Si where there always climbers. Sorry, its 1030 pm and my free lunch campaign is now null and void.
catbirdseat
Damn, I wish I'd seen your post sooner. Mark McKillop and I went to the Lower Town Wall today. It was dry, for the most part. We did Princely Ambitions and the first pitch of Saggitarius. Damn, that last one is REALLY hard for 5.9!
Blake
I think the first pitch of Sagg is kinda a sandbag .10a, not 5.9. (that's up to the anchors above the awkward chimney and ringing flake, so maybe you meant stopping somewhere else.)
bigwallben
Yes, boys. Index is the big boys club. Big climbs...small grades. The grade suggestions simply put you in the general neighborhood. That said, sagg is definitely pumpy for 5.9 if that is the suggested grade.

That said, sagg is definitely pumpy for 5.9 if that is the suggested grade. The only 5.9 that compares for difficulty is Damnation. I've done 5.10c's that are much easier than Saggitarius, but of course none of those were at Index. It's harder than Toxic Shock, Godzilla, and Princely Ambitions. Are there any other good 5.9's I should be doing there?
TrogdortheBurninator
It is only 5.9 to the first anchor. It is a little stiff through that wide hand crack, but not too bad. Maybe 9+. The business is the thin hands crack above the chimney. Rated 10a, but felt harder to me.
mythosgrl
Are there any other good 5.9's I should be doing there? Roger's Corner is fun.
MCash
GM, Happy Puppy, that dihedral on the Mid Wall that I can't remember the name of, are also good 5.9s.

Roger's Corner is fun. it's particularly fun if you go up breakfast of champions afterwards (even though I just climbed it for the first time this weekend). tyree
Toxic shock is another good 5.9. Not too many of those there and the ones that are there some of the 5.10's feel easier. Got to love that place!
NTM
i kind of liked the short bit of japanese gardens also.
